Converting YouTube Audio to MP3

There are many many YouTube videos available that you might find valuable to listen to regularly, like motivational speakers or meditations.  There is no need to to go to YouTube every time you want to hear these.  I have found a very simple and free way to extract the audio and save the file in the MP3 format which you can then download to your mobile device and play back at any time.

The tool I use is by MediaHuman and is a free Youtube to MP3 converter.  It is available for all modern platforms including Windows, Mac and Ubuntu.  And an added bonus is that there will be no adverts in your audio file once converted.

The first step is to go to their website at mediahuman.com and install the tool and then open it.  Go to Youtube to the video that you want to extract the audio from and copy the url into the clipboard using Ctrl C (Windows) or Cmd C (Mac) from the top bar or from the ‘Share’ button below the video.

Back to the tool again and click on the ‘Paste url’ button.  The url in the clipboard is automatically loaded into the tool and the video title and front page is loaded so that you can verify that it is the video that you are expecting.  Click on the Start button and the tool goes to work. Once completed, you can click on the magnifying glass symbol by your video preview in the tool to find where your file has been saved in Explorer (for Windows) or Finder (for Mac).

Now you can copy the file to your phone or MP3 player so that you can listen to your audio on demand.

Please note that I am using a Mac so I hope that the above is accurate for Windows PC’s.
