Lifestyle Upgrades: Discipline Part 2, What It Takes To Become A Jedi Master

All ultra-successful people have learned to master a particular skill.  Whether its copywriting, the technical skills of running a business, people management, marketing; usually one particular skill or skillset.

So how much time will it take you to acquire yours…

When you look at the successful people of this world, they have usually focussed on one particular skill of skillset and based there business around this.

Warren Buffet spends most of his day reading about potential investments so that he has become a master of choosing the right one. He only chooses one investment per year so is very selective.

Many successful marketers come from the copywriting background and build their empire based on this skill.

Elite athletes need to train for many hours per day to gain the stamina and skills necessary to compete on the world stage.

Although you will probably want to become proficient in a number of skills for you to be able to run your business effectively, there will probably be one particular skill that you need to focus on.

For instance, in the marketing world, you might decide that getting the written word out to your audience is key and you will therefore need to become skilled in copywriting.  Hint – I have never heard of a poor good copywriter ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Or if you want to get your message to your audience via YouTube, you will need to become skilled at video.

Whatever you decide is your thing, how long will it take you to become a master at it?

Well, typically it takes about 10,000 hours to fully master any particular skill.

That is 3 hours per day, every day, for 10 years.

Or, 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 10 years.

How ever you dice it, it is a lot of time and dedication required to reach that elite status of mastering your craft.

But, before you shrug and decide that it is too long and too hard, hold on a moment.

Remember the ‘eating an elephant’ analogy.  One bite at a time.

That is how you must approach it, in baby steps.

I suggest that you use a block calendar, you know the ones that have a box for each day of the week.  Mark a box each day as you complete your assigned time for that day.

Don’t worry about 10 years from now, or even a year from now.  Or even a month from  now.  Just one day at a time.

After a week of ‘X’s you now have a chain.  Pretty good hugh.

Your task is to not break the chain.  Keep building, day-by-day, then week-by-week, then month-by-month.

Before you know it you will have built a pretty substantial chain of ‘X’s.

And ofcourse the main point of this is that your skills will have improved immensely.

By forming the habit of doing this action daily, it will soon be routine and require very little discipline.

That is how you master a skill.

Now find the skill that is essential for you to master, get your block calendar (or print one out) and start on your elephant!

Dream big and take action ๐Ÿ‘
