Our school system is designed to teach the basics of most subjects like reading, writing, arithmetic, science, literature, etc. As we progress through the school system we learn to specialise in a certain field to hopefully get suitable employment to allow us to have a comfortable life.
However, many of our jobs have since gone overseas and it is harder to find a reasonable job that pays well. In some fields, the jobs of 20 or 30 years ago do not exist at all.
So the future for our kids, when they grow up and finish their schooling, does not look very rosy. But there is a huge opportunity available to us nowadays that was not there until reasonably recently. In this digital economy, there is an abundance of possibilities. For example, think of PewDiePie who makes millions of dollars a year making YouTube videos of him playing games.
Now I am not saying that we should all become a PewDiePie but who would have thought that this was a way to make huge amounts of money, say 5 years ago. There are many other examples of people cashing in on the digital economy.
How would you like to learn a new skill where all of the training you need is at your finger tips? Don’t think that you are too old to learn this new skill as I started in my late 40’s and in the first 3 months I learnt how to set up this website and write blogs, I learnt how to drive a Facebook business page and generate successful Facebook adverts, I learnt how to generate landing (sales) pages, I learnt a few graphics editors, and so much more.
All of this I managed to do in my spare time, with the target of generating enough income to sack my boss and run my own digital marketing business from home. There are probably a number of reasons you can think of that say why you can”t do it, but if you want it enough, you can. And you will!
This will be a skill that you can pass down to your kids. Think how different your life would have been if you had been a successful entrepreneur at 18 years old, or even younger.
