Lifestyle Upgrades: Robert Kiyosaki ‘Why Most People Will Never Be Rich’

I love Robert Kiyosaki. Reading his renowned best-seller Rich Dad Poor Dad was my first enlightening moment of how to aim for financial freedom.

Here in this interview, he gives his perspective of the education system which was intended for the industrial revolution and to train people how to become employees.

School teaches many basics of the but will never teach you what you really need to know about becoming rich because the government decides what the school subjects are.

The state of your financial health is completely rooted in your subconscious.

If you think you are poor – you will always be poor. Even if you win the lottery, you will probably end up losing it all and end up poor. Because that is who you are.

Society also teaches you to be poor with the sayings that we all hear from when we are first able to understand language. Phrases like “We can’t afford that”, “Do you think that money grows on trees?” and “The rich are evil”.

So to have a rich mindset, you must replace “I can’t afford it” with “How can I afford it?”

Replacing the negative statement with a positive question will get the mind thinking. Soon you will be overflowing with great ideas of what you could do that would generate the income so you can afford your desire.

The reason the poor are poor is that they haven’t failed, or at least not failed enough. Often a failure or two is enough reason to not try any more.

The rich are always failing. They see failure as a way to move forward by learning from their mistakes.

I can see this in my kids as they go through their junior schooling. They always have to be right. They do not like to try things in case they are wrong. School punishes them for being wrong.

I try very hard to encourage them to try new things whenever possible. If they do fail, we consider it to be a good thing because we look at what they have learnt from that experience

Accepting being poor is the easy way out. Not having to think is the easy way out. The brain is inherently lazy.

So don’t beat yourself up if you have been taking the easy way out. But now is the time to change.

Change your thinking and you will change your life.

Dream big and take action 👍
